Emerging Artist

The Emerging Artist for TCF2011 is local blacksmith Pete Mattila, who brings together a unique combination of the strength and power of forged steel and the beauty and elegance of artistic expression.

Originally from Michigan in the US, Pete moved to Tasmania with his wife, Ani, who grew up in the state, and he built a home for his family at Jackey's Marsh, just south of Deloraine.

“I love to watch how steel moves while I’m working with it, its shapes and forms – a lot of my design comes from investigation as I go,” he said.

Centre of Excellence

Each year, the Tasmanian Craft Fair highlights a craft in its feature exhibition.

In 2011, the Craft Fair will present an exhibition of fine Tasmanian furniture, crafted from native timbers. More details on the exhibitors and their works will be published on our website as soon as they are known. Keep an eye out here for further details.

Gourmet Festival

The Tasmanian Craft Fair's popular Gourmet Festival will return in 2011, with an expanded arena and stallholders selling the finest in Tasmanian produce.
